Overall Positivity

This graph shows the overall positivity score of each planet in your chart. I calculated this by determining the positivity of each planet in each sign within the 10 facets ("dash-varga") of it's sign and averaging those scores together on a weighted scale. The more positive a planet is, the more it will produce the positive results you would expect from it's placement in the houses. Conversely, the more negative it is, the more it will produce the negative results you could expect from that placement.

Above is not your graph!!! It is just a Sample Graph for the purpose of this article!

Scoring System

As you would expect, "50%" is a neutral or average score, a "half and half" situation. Above 55% is notably better than average. Above 60% is very positive. Planets in this range will produce qualities that will set you apart from your peers. Planets above 70% are outstanding and will enable you to be a successful leader in the areas they govern in your chart. Scores about 80% are rare and show progressively uncommon and historical personalities.

Scoring below 45% is starts to be noticeably below average. Planets below 40% show the areas in life in which you face challenges. Below 30%, a planet places significant obstacles to your goals. Planets in this range determine the key areas in your life which require self-improvement. Scores below 20% become more and more rare and show uncommon difficulties and unusual personality traits.

Red Planets - Combustion

Sometimes, very low scores occur because of the Sun consuming or "combusting" one of your planets. If the graphs list a planet's name in red, it means that planet's score has been lowered as a result of being consumed by the blazing Sun. These low scores are more subtle and have more positive side-effects and potentials than scores of a similar low number achieved without combustion. In parenthesis below the name of a combust planet, the graph will show the score of the planet if it were not combust. Combust planets lose their normal positivity, but "donate" or "transfer" that energy to the Sun, so they therefore have positive spiritual or self-identity ramifications despite their apparently lower positivity scores.

Planetary Age

This graph also describes the "age" of each planet in your horoscope, calculated by it's position within it's sign. These are the possible ages and what they basically mean.

  • Newborn planets are like newborn babies in that they can grow and learn very quickly, but only if they are given proper loving care.
  • Youthful planets are playful and healthy and therefore are sources of happiness for you.
  • Adult planets are very reliable, productive and strong. An adult planet give's it's effect most strongly and fully, and therefore determine your fundamental strengths.
  • Elder planets are wise and deep, but are developing frailties and can cause health problems
  • Dying planets are mystical and have supernatural powers. They do not promote health, and will astrologically be involved with your death.

Good and Bad Effects

This graph elaborates on the previous one, by pointing out the specific areas in which your planets are positive or negative. There are two main components represented here: the number of positive and negative facets for each planet, and also their specific outstanding positive and negative facets. Do remember that if a planet is named in red here, it indicates solar combustion which will significantly impact the results you would otherwise expect from this graph, as explained briefly above.

A planet in zero or one positive or negative facets is not outstanding in either direction. But being in more than one in either direction is noteworthy, as follows. Note that the effects are somewhat cumulative, which is to say that the more extreme results generally include the effects of the less extreme results which came before it.

You will find the number of positive and negative facets listed on the graph above and below the bars for each planet. (If you want a more conservative count for each value, only count the number of times you see percentages listed inside each bar. For example, in the sample below, the Moon has a phenomenal 10 Good Facets. But from a more conservative assesment it has only 2 - which you can see from the two lines of text inside the Moon's bar).

Positive Facets

  • Having just one positive facet is still basically average.
  • With two positive facets a planet is "flowering" or "attractive" (parijata). It creates attractive traits in you and can be a source from which you can gain wealth, respect, authority, and dignity.
  • With three, a planet is "elevated"(uttama). It bestows true humility and gentility, and sharpens the intellect - connected to the areas the planet governs, of course.
  • Four positive facets makes a planet "wealthy" (gopura). It will bestow great wealth, property, and intelligence.
  • Five creates a planet who is "enthroned" (simhaasana). It creates qualities which can put you in king-like positions.
  • Six positive facets cause a planet to become "towering" (parvata). Planets at this status of positivity will represent areas in life in which you triumphantly tower above the average.
  • Seven causes a planet to become "superhuman" (devaloka). These planets represent superhuman, godlike fortunes, strengths and qualities that a person can posses.
  • Eight good facets make a planet "the Sun-god" (suryaloka). These represent fortunes and qualities in a human being which would be respected even amongst the gods.
  • Nine good facets put a planet in the company of the "king of heaven" (airavata). Planets at this level of positivity produce abundant qualities which the kind of heaven (Indra / Zeus) would himself desire.
  • Ten good facets cause the planet to make you a "king of kings" in the areas that planet governs in your chart.

Negative Facets

  • With nine or ten negative facets a planet creates qualities (according to what it governs in your chart, or course) which can completely ruin you if you do not carefully address them.
  • With eight negative facets a planet creates things which cause you very significant long term grief
  • Seven negative facets cause a planet to produce temporary calamities in your life.
  • Six will cause a planet to produce sadness in you at times.
  • Five will cause a planet to create experiences and traits that make you to turn to your family and friends for support and ultimately develop good relationships with them as a result.
  • Four negative facets cause a planet to allow you to overcome obstacles on your own, and thus excel in comparison to your family and your beginning conditions.
  • Three make a planet help you overcome your shortcomings in connection with developing friendship with kinglike, strong people. In other words these planets present obstacles which you can rise above and eventually attain the company of persons who are great in the area of those obstacles
  • Having just two negative facet, a planet will allow you to rise above obstacles in such a way that you yourself become opulent and great in those areas.
  • Having just one negative facet allows you to excel ever further, to a king-like status.

Specific Areas of Positivity or Negativity

Inside some of the bars on your "Good and Bad" effects you will find other numbers noted. These note the facets in which a planet is particularly outstanding. For example you may see "D1 100%" or "D12 75%", etc. The first part ("D1", "D12" etc) identifies the specific outstanding facet, and the percentage identifies just how outstanding the planet has scored in that facet.

Using this information you can interpret the areas that will specifically be the sources of positivity or negativity from that planet in your chart. Here are the different facets and the areas of life they mainly pertain to.

  • D1. This is the main chart itself. It concerns all areas of life equally.
  • D2 Hora. This facet of the main sign concerns the planets ability to have a strong foundation, and thus provide support & wealth. This strength comes as a result of correct alignment of masculine and feminine or "yin and yang" conditions for that planet.
  • D3 Drekkan. This concerns your ambitions, desires, competitiveness, etc. It also affects your experience of siblings.
  • D5 Trimsha. Concerns the misfortunes, accidents, injuries and mishaps that may occur in your life.
  • D7 Sapta. Concerns your creativity, intelligence, procreative abilities and experiences with children.
  • D9 Nava: Relationships & marriage.
  • D10 Dasha:Career & social status.
  • D12 Dvadasha: Parents.
  • D16 Shodasha: Vehicles & major property
  • D60 Shashti: The little quirks and idiosyncrasies of all areas of life.

Limitations of this Information

This information is only as useful as the clarity of insight you have when you meditate on and interpret it. Therefore it is a very good idea to get readings from me to interpret your questions pertaining to the information here. I encourage you to explore them with your own intuition and your own divinity, but caution you to reality-check your conclusions with me.

These two graphs, in combination with your chart itself, contain a nearly infinite wealth of astrological information. But you do need experience to correctly read this info, and also to apply it in the context of the house positions in your personal chart. There are a few other important sources of information which I always incorporate in the readings I do for you, and which you should also gradually learn to refer to as you get deeper and deeper insights into the realities of your astrological chart. These other sources mainly include:

  • House placements. Much of the above information makes use of the phrase "areas which the planet governs in your chart." This phrase refers to the implications of the House which the planet occupies, as well as the House or Houses it owns. These are all essential considerations.
  • Yogas - special planetary alignments and combinations.
  • Conjunctions - simple yogas where two or more planets co-exist in the same sign or very close by degree, and therefore influence one another in ways not depicted in these graphs alone.
  • Aspects - like conjunctions but more difficult for the novice to spot. These occur when planets don't have obvious physical proximity but are in positions which affect one another.
  • Strength. This is very important. These graphs show a planet's mood or intention in your chart, but don't directly show their capacity to make their intentions into reality for you. Therefore it is important to check other graphs which describe the strength (not intention) of each planet.
